Secrets of the Cape
Cape Winelands, Western Cape and Cape Town (12 days / 11 nights)
Overview:
Never straying much further than 2 hours drive from Cape Town this ‘off the beaten track’ holiday itinerary includes many of the numerous attractions of the Western Cape. It is ideally suited to return visitors, for those that dislike long drives and for those who like to get away from the crowds and as such is probably best suited to travel outside of the peak season. Take a chance and you will be handsomely rewarded.
Itinerary:
Days 1 & 2: Cape Winelands/ Franschhoek, Akadamie Street Guesthouse (B&B)
On arrival in Cape Town head straight for the tranquil village of Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands. From your private cottage at the Akademie Street Guesthouse you are within walking distance of town and only a short drive from the surrounding vineyards.
Days 3 & 4: Western Cape / Tulbagh, Bartholomeus Klip (FB)
Enjoy authentic Cape hospitality at Bartholomeus Klip, a working wheat farm and private game reserve home to plains game and the endangered geometric tortoise. Relaxation, nature walks, drives and cycles as well as a procession of delicious meals are the order of the day.
Days 5 & 6: Western Cape / Swellendam, Schoone Oordt (B&B)
Explore the longest wine route in South Africa and the historic town of Swellendam from Schoone Oordt, a magnificently restored Victorian landmark presiding over lush grounds.
Days 7 & 8: Western Cape / Hermanus, Blue Gum Country Estate (B&B)
Continue towards the coast for two days of whale watching (in season) and relaxed country living from Blue Gum Country Estate.
Days 9 - 11: Cape Town / Southern Suburbs, Highlands Country House (B&B)
End your holiday with 3 nights in Cape Town’s leafy southern suburbs. At the beautifully restored Highlands Country House you will be far enough from town for total relaxation and yet close enough for every convenience.
Day 12:
